Locksmiths

Keys4U Locksmiths - Refundable deposit never refunded

They sent a locksmith (Chris C. from Romania) to replace a simple suffolk latch on a wooden garden gate (south London). He came late, had a look, tried to persuade me to get some other lock even though I clearly told him what I wanted. I even showed him photos on my phone. It turned out he had never done this type of lock before and said he had to order the lock and come back later.

Conmen £350 for simple lockout

Called Keys4u. Locked out. So called locksmith turned up. Told me he had to drill lock. Told him I done it before and all the locksmith done was go though letterbox and knock handle down. Should have been a 30 second job. He told me he didn't have anything to do that and showed me his tool case full of screwdrivers. He was Romanian. Alarm bells started going off in my head. Drilled lock but still could not get in. Started forcing the door. Took him 40mins to force door open.

Useless, it's a ripoff - ABLE GROUP

Asked to repair a broken door handle. I wasn't sure about the extent of the damage to the door and lock mechanism -- quoted between about £100-250 on the phone depending on what needed to be replaced (handle only vs. full mechanism) -- fair enough so far. Locksmith arrived, took about 5 minutes to replace handle, fortunately no other repair needed.

Your Local Locksmiths - Beware rip off prices

Learn from my mistake concerning a company called The Local Choice Locksmiths Ltd who are on the web as 'Your Local Locksmiths'.

Having a sticky upvc door lock I decided to find a local company to find and fix the problem. I phoned on 07 Jan what was a local number which I found on the www.thelocal-locksmiths.co.uk website.I explained my lock problem to the operator making it clear it was not an Emerency call out.
